Best of 2019

Well, it’s that time of year when everyone seems to be reflecting on the year that was, and looking forward to the new year to come. I’ve been thinking back on 2019 as well, and I thought it would be fun to highlight some of my favorite moments.

Best Of 2019 - Concerts
CONCERTS // First up, concerts! I had the privilege of seeing two of my favorite artists in concert this year. Casting Crowns brought the Only Jesus tour to Hershey back in March, and it was a wonderful night of worship. Then, in December, Point of Grace celebrated the 20th Anniversary of their ‘A Christmas Story’ album with a stop in Manheim. This is my all-time favorite Christmas album, and it was such a treat to hear them perform the album in its entirety. Thankful to have experienced both of these tours this year!

Best Of 2019 - DisneyDISNEY // Another highlight of 2019 would have to be my trip to Disney in January. If you ever have a chance to take a solo trip to Walt Disney World, I highly recommend it! It’s a much different experience than going with a group, and I really enjoyed it. Also got to spend some time with my good friend, Kyle, which is always a win in my book!

Best Of 2019 - OCCOCC // It’s always a privilege to partner with Operation Christmas Child! This year, our family continued our tradition of not only packing boxes, but volunteering at a processing center as well (along with a few friends). Our church family donated items through the year, and our students had a packing party to put it all together. Even though we didn’t quite reach our goal this year, it’s still humbling to think of the number of children who will be reached with the Gospel because of these simple gifts. I’m so grateful for the ministry of OCC, and am happy to include it as one of my favorite things about 2019!

Best Of 2019 - RunningRUNNING // Running isn’t something I ever thought I’d be putting on a list of favorites. Although it’s not much fun while I’m in the midst of it, it has honestly become something I look forward to, in a strange sort of way. Since April, I’ve gone from not exercising much at all, to completing two 5Ks. I’m still kind of shocked by the whole thing – and I’m sure some of you are as well. 🤣 Huge thanks to my good friend, Adam, for keeping me accountable and encouraged – it means the world!

Best Of 2019 - MusicMUSIC // I can’t do a “year in review” without talking about music, right? This year there were three releases that really stuck with me:
Avalon is back!! “Keeper of My Heart” is their first new single in a decade, and a new full-length album is coming in early 2020. Jody McBrayer also re-joined the group this year, which makes this long-time fan incredibly happy!
Ross King released a new song this year that I feel is incredibly important. “Things That I’m Afraid Of” tackles a subject that the church, for the most part, has not handled well – mental health. If you live with depression, anxiety, fear, etc. please listen to this song and be encouraged. You’re not alone. And as a long-time fan of Ross’s music, this may be one of my favorite things he’s ever released. Go check it out!
-You know I love Christmas music! The new Christmas album from Phil Wickham is my favorite Christmas album of 2019, by far. I listened to it in the car pretty much the entire season. Love the production, and his voice is incredible on this one. His re-imagining of “Away in A Manger” may be my favorite track on the album. It’s still technically the Christmas season, so be sure to check this one out ASAP!

Best Of 2019 - BeachBEACH // It’s hard to explain, but time spent at the beach tends to be refreshing to my soul. Although I didn’t spend quite as much time there as I normally do, I’m incredibly grateful for the few days I was able to get away to Chincoteague for a writing retreat this year. Christmas thoughts and beach weather, what could be better? 😉

Best Of 2019 - MBCMBC // I am grateful to have been on staff at Memorial Baptist Church in 2019. For me, it was a year of finding my place and truly feeling like I was where I was meant to be. I love our staff, and am so thankful for the great relationship we all have. Personally, one of my favorite and most meaningful projects this year was designing a new logo for the church. I’m humbled to think that the Lord has me here, and I’m looking forward to what He is going to do in and through MBC in 2020 and beyond!

Best Of 2019 - MusicalMUSICAL // Each year, the Christmas musical at MBC is one of my favorite things I get to be part of. And each year, it is a huge reminder to me of God’s faithfulness, and my inability to do anything apart from Him. I’m grateful for everyone who worked so hard to make this year’s production a reality, and I pray that lives were touched and God was glorified through it.

Best Of 2019 - FamilyFAMILY // And finally, I’m most thankful for family in 2019. My nephews turned 2 this year, and it’s been so great to be part of their lives and watch them grow and thrive. Grateful for my parents and all that they’ve done and continue to do for our family. Thankful for their godly examples and their love and support.

Happy New Year, everyone! Praying that 2020 is the best year yet!
